Magnificent Sunset over the Seine River – Paris

On this particular day, my wife and I were walking back from photographing Notre-Dame Cathedral and, upon crossing the Seine River bridge, there it was off to our left–the type of sunset which hypnotically says look at me, and so we did.

Incidentally, at an earlier period, I lived in New York City and regardless of which window I looked out of, all I could see were shards of light reflecting off of nearby buildings. Deep within I yearned to experience the feeling which comes from seeing the crescent glow breaking at the horizon. When living at a location where you don’t see the sun rise or set, moments like at the Seine River instantly become priceless.

Sunrise and sunsets are one of those things which occur everyday.  However, for as long as they have been happening, the myriad tapestry of colors and ever-changing cloud formations which form our celestial pantheon, collectively remain a mystery. Tangibly we have benefited from this phenomenon in that it has spurred economies, caused us to travel around the globe, build hotels, write love songs and even increase the planet population.

My personal summation is, sunsets are the pause button which allows us to calmly step away from the days hectic activities.  And after having slept through the night the sunrise reinvigorates our determination for reaching the personalized summit we dream of.

Recently purchased a new home in Park Slopes Brooklyn and I am seeing lots of great photos which will make the place come alive. Kudos to the photographer.

I absolutely love this image as well. Wish I had captured a sunset like this the last time I was in Paris.
